Photo shoot (Updated on 9/03/2016)
Today, we've taken the photos needed for our magazines. We did this in groups using DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras that have allowed me to capture good quality photos for my magazine. In our groups, we had 3 areas for taking our photos, each designed for a different type of shot.

We had a main cover photo area that consisted of a white backdrop and an optional green screen with some diffused lighting that would light up the scene with a natural looking light. The shots we took in this area were mostly long and mid shots that would allow us to capture the band members for the cover of the magazine. Later on in this area, we took some interesting shots with a very long exposure time that captured a long period of motion in a single photo.

We also utilized the second area which was dedicated to taking close up shots that would be used later in the magazine. This area consisted of a black background and a single diffused light which we later used to take some interesting silhouette photos. In this area we took photos that would capture individual peoples faces as well as some pair photos that had 2 people in a mid shot. Additionally, in this area, we also played about with the DoF (Depth of Field) on our cameras that allowed us to take some interesting shots of guitars.

The third area we made use of was the rest of the school. We took some long shots outside in front of a brick wall that gave the photos an appearance that is very suitable for a rock magazine. We also went into the steel pan room where we took more shots as a band with all the instruments that were there. Some of the instruments included a drum kit and keyboards.

Below are the pictures we took at the photo shoot.

I will use one of the top 3 images as my front cover. These images are relevant to both my target audience and my music genre as they contain guitars. These are usually associated with rock and the people in the picture look like they're in a band. The target audience will be around 16 and above as we are all 16 in the pictures.

Article Plan (16/03/2016):
When writing my article, I will need to take audience theory into account to ensure maximum enjoyment for my reader when they're reading my article. I will use the love/belonging part of Maslow's hierarchy of needs to make my article make the user feel like they have fulfilled the need for belonging by knowing more about their favourite band. This would also tie into the need for personal relations part if Katz's theory of uses and gratification. I will make my article go into depth about each member of the band and how the band formed. This will fulfill the reader's need for personal relationships as they would feel like they know the band members on a more personal level. I will also include free posters in my magazine to fill the need for personal identity of the reader as they could hang these posters in their house to build their identity as a rock fan among their friends that would see the posters. I will also fill the needs for diversion and surveillance by writing about the most up to date information about the band and the rock scene as this would allow the user to escape reality while they're reading the article as well as allow them to find out the most up to date news about the band.

My magazine has a rock theme to it which means the article will need to have a lighthearted and casual feel to it. This also means that the article can't sound too formal as that is something you'd see in an article from a classical music magazine rather than a rock one. By doing this I will entertain the reader by using a style of writing that is expected from a magazine with a rock theme.

My target audience will be people around the age of 18. I will target the article at people who are both older and younger than this age to make sure that as many people as possible can enjoy the article. This however means that I cannot use any strong language or advanced terminology to ensure that the article can be read by people both young and old. I will also make sure that the article is well written with no mistakes to make it look professional by reading over it multiple times to ensure that everything makes sense.
